The 56th anniversary of Mon National Day
The 56th anniversary of Mon National Day has been successfully celebrated with four aims and objectives in Fort Wayne, Indiana State, America.
Four objectives are:
(1) To raise the spirits of unity and patriotism among the Mon people.
(2) To raise the spirits of preserving the Mon culture heritage.
(3) To remember last Mon country, Hongsavatoi.
(4) To encourage the spirits of unity and solidarity with other people of the world.
In order to fulfill these four objectives, we work hard to celebrate unforgettable day of the Mon among the terrible weather. Even heavy snowy the day of celebration, there about 400 guests joined the celebration. Among them are a representative from Congressman office, a representative from Fort Wayne Mayor office, dean of Taylor University, President of Vietnamese community, President of Sri-lanka community, and President of Laotian community. All these guests addressed their well wishes to the Mon National Day. Moreover, special massages from National Coalition Government of Union of Burma (NCGUB) and Karen Solidarity Organization (KSO) were also read at the celebration. The Mon community of Fort Wayne annually celebrated Mon National Day at different location in each year. This year the Mon National Day was celebrated at the Founder Hall of Taylor University.
The celebration started at 5.30 pm and ended at 11.00 pm. Several Mon folk dancers and singers performed Mon traditional dances and sang Mon traditional songs. Nai Wi Mon and Mi Lavi Nyan conducted as masters of ceremony. Nai Htaw Ong and other four colorful guards were marching with Mon National flag to the front of the stage and saluted it with Mon national anthem. Mi Hongsa read the joint statement of the 56th anniversary MND in Mon, and Nai Thet Lwin read it in English. Mi Rotpa Kao, Mi Myint Aye, and Mi Htaw Lin were the leaders of the dancing troupe. There 12 kinds of dancing troupe and 27 Mon classical and modern songs were performed in the celebration. Nai Ku Marn, Nai Kao Chan and Nai Nine Oo led modern Mon music band.
The celebration was broadcasted by two local T.V channels: 21 and 15 and reported by two local newspapers: Journal Gazette and News sentential. Radio Free Asia (RFA) news correspondent also broadcasted the event. The event was also reported to Voice of America (V.O.A) Burmese service and Democratic Voice of Burma (DVB).
