Mon Students participate in Culture Day

On June 1, 2007, Mon High School  students  participated in Culture Day held at North Side High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana to celebrate cultural diversity. About 21 Mon students  along with their parents joined the celebration.  At the celebration, Mon students dressed their traditional dresses and displayed arts, galleries,  and products from Monland.  When a teacher asked the Mon students about type of currency used in Monland, students explained, "Because  we, Mon people lost our independence to Burman in 1757, we do not have rights to have our own currency.  Currently we use Burman currency in Monland. One day when we regain our independence, we hope we will  be able to have our own currency."
