Summer Mon literacy Training in Three Pagoda Pass area

3/31/00: The Mon Literacy Training Program is going on now.  The number of students 
and the teachers who take part in Mon literacy program has increased significantly.

According to Dr Aung Moe, who initiated this program at Three Pagoda Pass area,
the number of the students is nearly 500 and 15 teachers (12 female and 3 male
teachers), in Three Pagoda area, but not monks.  Last year, most of the teachers
were monks.  But the Mon monks' Buddhism examination took place at the temple
in Three Pagoda Pass area in early February and about 400 monks came from Mon
State and participated in this examination. That examination was supported by
Ajartala Uttama of Wat Wangwivekaram.  Dr Aung Moe said that he needs to make
proposal and submitted to the Burmese authorities before he started the literacy
program and report in detail again when finish the program.
