Burmese police in Chaung-zone town, Mon State interrogated members of the 250th Hongsawatoi Fallen Day Memorial implementing committee after the memorial concluded.

A section of Burmese police personnel arrived at the Hpae Tight (concrete temple) in Mudu (Mute Don in Burmese) village, where the memorial was held and interrogated them.

"They (police) asked who supported the memorial, who were involved and who organised it. Their said they were afraid that the memorial was supported by activists in exile," a source from the committee said.

Some monks and community leaders helping monks were interrogated for a while but no one was arrested, a source said.
The memorial was organized by local community monks who teach Mon literature and culture in summer schools to Mon children in the township. The memorial ceremony was not on a large scale, a source said.

The memorial was organized with local Mon children who study Mon literature and culture in the temple and villages nearby.
The monks and the people who attended the memorial praying at the Shwe Maw Daw pagoda, in Pegu (Bago) Town were interrupted by policemen, sources from Pegu said. The police drove out the people after 9 p.m. but the prayer continued in the pagoda.
