250th Honsawatoi Fallen Day implementing committee

Burmese police in Chaung-zone
town, Mon State interrogated members of
the 250th Hongsawatoi Fallen Day Memorial implementing committee after the
memorial concluded.
A section of Burmese
police personnel arrived at the Hpae Tight (concrete temple) in Mudu (Mute Don
in Burmese) village, where the memorial was held and interrogated them.
"They (police)
asked who supported the memorial, who were involved and who
organised it. Their said they were afraid that the memorial was supported by
activists in exile," a source from the committee said.
Some monks and community
leaders helping monks were interrogated for a while but no one was arrested, a
source said.
The memorial
was organized by local community monks who teach Mon literature and culture in
summer schools to Mon children in the township. The memorial ceremony was not
on a large scale, a source said.

who attended the memorial praying at the Shwe Maw Daw pagoda, in Pegu (Bago)
Town were interrupted by policemen, sources from Pegu said. The police drove
out the people after 9 p.m. but the prayer
continued in the pagoda.
