Burmese military government destroyed New Mon State Party (NMSP) school
signboard and put government school signboard in Mon State, southern Ye township
said a Mon teacher in the area.
Now some Mon National School (MNS) signboards have already been changed to
the signboard of government schools, said the teacher.
A monk from regional said that the school signboards in Mon schools from
Khawzar, Yin-ye, Bop-htaw, Mi-htaw-hlar and Kyonekanya villages have been
changed.
The Mon teacher said during the National Convention, Colonel Myo Win,
regional military operation commander, planned to turn MNS to government schools
and forced some Mon teachers to close the school.
But NMSP requested government to stop forcing Mon teachers and then
government withdrew Colonel Myo Win from the region and put Colonel Htay Aung
instead.
At the time of Colonel Htay Aung in charge in the area, he did nothing about
the MNS and the case became silence.
But after NC, government placed Colonel Htay Aung to Colonel Nyi Nyi again.
And now MNS signboards have been changed said the teacher.
When Colonel Myo Win forced some Mon teachers to close down the
schools, one of NMSP leaders said that NMSP could not accept the order. But
although they don't want to follow the order now the local governments have
changed the signboards without their acknowledgement.
A NMSP leader said, it is a kind of government policy which is always
changing officials. As they change officials, the policy in the area has to be
changed all the time.
Until this year government have only eight schools in southern Ye township.
But there are about 30 MNS in the area and over 7,000 students are attending the
schools.
In Mon State, NMSP operates nearly two hundred schools and employs over 1000
teachers to teach about 60,000 students in the schools.
