On June 2, 2007, Monland Restoration Council of Fort Wayne held a ceremony of opening Mon literacy school in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Every year, MRC of Fort Wayne offered Mon literacy training classes at Mon Buddhist Temple to teach Mon literature to Mon children and adults. This year about 85 students registered to join Mon literacy training classes. Teaching Mon language in Burma has been banned by Burmese military regime in Burma.
