MRC 15th Annual Conference

Monland Restoration Council (USA) held its 15th annual conference  in Fort Wayne, Indiana on December 25th, 2008.  The conference was divided into two sections.  In the first section, representatives from member organizations represented their annual activities’ reports. In the second section, the representatives discussed the future of MRC’s activities including raising fund for Mon National Fund and unity among Mons in the United States. After regional organizations elected their representatives, MRC held another teleconference on January 17, 2009 to elect a chairman, secretary general and respective committee chairs. The meeting elect Dr. Mi Jarai Mon as the chairwoman and Nai Bannya Htaw Weang as the secretary general.  This is the first time MRC has elected woman as chairman since its founding.

 

MRC Central Committee members comprised of five representatives from MRC-Fort Wayne, five representatives from Mon Community of Ohio, three representatives from Mon Community of North Carolina, one representative from Mon community of Buffalo, New York,  two representatives from Mon Sangha Organization of USA,  and two representatives of Mon Women’s Association of America.

 

Following the MRC-USA conference, Mon Women’s Association of America and MRC Fort Wayne held their annual conferences. Mon Women’s Association of America held its fifth annual conference on December 26, 2008 in Fort Wayne, Indiana and elected Dr. Mi Jarai Mon as the chairwoman, Mi Soe Soe as vice chairwoman, and Mi Htaw Kaloit as Secretary general.  Mon Women’s Association of America Akron’s branch also held their annual meeting on December 14, 2008. The meeting elected Mi Aye Mon as Chairwoman, Mi Thein as vice chairwoman, and Mi Seik Mon as Secretary General.

 

 MRC- Fort Wayne held its annual conference on December 27-28 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  The conference reviewed its financial statement, activities in 2008 and discussed its future activities. The conference elected Nai Michael Mon as the chairman, Nai Mon Chai as vice chairman, and Nai Kun Yekha as secretary general. MRC- Fort Wayne is the largest Mon community in the U.S.

 

Mon Community of Ohio (MRC-Ohio) also held its annual meeting on January 1st, 2009 in Akron, Ohio. The meeting reviewed its activities in 2008 and discussed future activities. The meeting elected Nai Ramonya as chairman, Nai Kurot as vice chairman, and Nai Saung secretary general.

 

MRC is founded in 1993 in the U.S. with the aim of struggling for Mon national self-determination in Burma.
