Mon Buffalo News, Date: 6/26/2010

Mon Community of Buffalo successfully held its bi-annual meeting at Lafayette Apartment, Buffalo, NY on 6/26/2010. The meeting started with agenda announcement by Nai Gong Chan Kit and opened the ceremony by singing Mon national anthem.

President, Banya Htaw Weang delivered speech to the attending members. Nai Jakka Rot, Joint secretary and in charge of Public Relation Committee briefly explained the activities of Mon Community of Buffalo for the past six months. Nai Tin Myo Oo, in charge of Financial Committee reported the income and expenses of the community. And Nai Bo Win Lay, in charge of Alliance Affairs Committee reported his committee activities.

Banya Htaw Weang continued the overall community activities’ report for the past six months followed by general discussion for future plans and activities. All the attending members agreed to produce the T-Shirts with Mon Community of Buffalo logo in the future in order to get extra funds for the community. Some members also discussed how to start small business by cooperation each other among the interested members. Finally, the meeting concluded by taking group pictures  at 4:30 pm.

Mon Community of Buffalo was formed on 1/31/2010 by Mon people who are living in Buffalo, NY. MCB set up its three objectives as following:

1. To help and take care of each other like one family.
2. To help Mon people when emergency cause is emerged.
3. To promote Mon literature, culture and Mon Buddhism.
