I also would like to thank to all friends who scarified their time, material and moral support in every conner to have been celebrated the 54th Mon National Day among of all difficulties.

In deed, we really work hard to get together and to perform this special event for the Mon people. Although the Mon National Day is the most valuable day of the Mon that is not allowed to celebrate freely under the Burmese government and military administration. Especially, in Yangon, former Rangoon, the capital city of Burma and other cities where the Mon people populated were strictly prohibited to perform not only Mon National Day but also teaching of Mon literature and language during summer season since 1988.

In fact, the most well-known Mon Kingdom Hongsavatoi, now known as Pago, that 50 miles a way from Yangon, was founded on this date in 572 AD by the Mon King Samala and Vimala, they brothers.

In order to commemorate the founded day of the last Mon Kingdom, Hongsavatoi, many well-known Mon Buddhist monks and scholars anonymously decided the founded day of Hongsavatoi as the Mon National Day which to be celebrated annually by the entire Mon Nation. It has been started in 1947 and so far it has been coming to the 54th anniversary.

On this special occasion day, the Mon people would be excuse each other and establish loving kindness upon unity and solidarity. In order to promote culture, literature and language, the unforgettable Day of the Mon would be greatly held annually.
